how to prepare specifications and data sheets?

(OP)
I am a mechanical engineer and I was working all the while in construction projects. Now I am placed in engineering department (boilers). I am asked write specifications and prepare data sheets.

I would like to know how to do it. Could you please help me out with basics?

RE: how to prepare specifications and data sheets?

In addition to the above comment, read the Owner's requirements and incorporate them into the Engineering Specs. You don't need to reinvent the wheel. I would also address specific construction Code requirements as added reinforcement.

RE: how to prepare specifications and data sheets?

If you google "pressure vessel data sheet", you will get many examples for data sheets, most of them in pdf to download them.

To write a specification is not that difficult. It is basically just a description of what is required. There is no specific format for a specification.
