Seismic design of concrete bund

Seismic design of concrete bund

Seismic design of concrete bund

(OP)
Hi

I hope this is the right forum for this post??

We are looking at designing a secondary containment bund for an oil storage facility using R.C panels. The site is in a seismic area and therefore it is considered prudent to check a design scenario that the bund is full during a quake (eg first quake causes tank breach followed by strong after shake)

I am looking for guidance on the best way to approach the seismic design check.

Should this be treated like a dam under seismic loading? I understand that various levels of analysis can be used, the simplest being equivalent static, which Im assuming could be used in this case as the bund wall heights are typically 2m or less.

If Eqv static methods are used what seismic weight for the product contained should be used? Is the weight of all product in the bund considered as seismic weight??

Does the influence of slosh waves need to be considered when considering the wall loads and overturning moments or can the EQ loads from the product contained be simply considered to be uniformly applied to the wall over the product height??

Any advise/ assistance appreciated.

Cheers
