Please advise what governs cables ampacity calculation and allowable fill for flexible cable carriers.I found that NEC covers cable tray applications. Maybe cable tray rules also apply to catrack type carriers?

RE: Ampacity of cables

I'm not familiar with the term "catrack". Can you provide an example? Cable tray rules only apply to listed cable tray.

RE: Ampacity of cables

NEC 310 (I would think a flexible cable carrier would be classified as a "raceway") NEC should have all the info you need.

Or do you mean something like this http://cableorganizer.com/snake-tray/

I probably should not have used a jargon, sorry.

RE: Ampacity of cables

I don't see anything on the web site about it being ETL listed for general installation. If you don't know, you should contact the manufacturer to determine if it is listed. If not, it would not be covered by the NEC.

The manufacturer should have recommended fill and ampacity calculations. Suggest sticking to those if possible. Contact your electrical inspector first to determine if it will be approved in your application.
