Minimum flowrate in IX water softening to prevent channeling

(OP)
I am looking for a guideline minimum flow rate of water through a ion exchange water softener which will prevent channeling.

I have seen the guideline of 1 gpm per ft3 of resin - but want some verification.

The application is for individual facilities, not central utility treatment, if that makes a difference.

RE: Minimum flowrate in IX water softening to prevent channeling

1 gpm per cubic foot of resin is a better number than the RH suggestion.  Our recommendation is 8 - 40 BV/h.  1 gpm/ft3.
