contact pressure meaning

(OP)
Hi !

I am using Ansys but my question can be answered by people using other softwares...

I just want to know what does "contact pressure" really means. Is it the normal pressure between the 2 parts in contact, or the tangential one... ?

If anyone can describe me this notion in detail, it would be great !

Thanks !!

RE: contact pressure meaning

A pressure acts normal to the surface. Shear would be tangential.
