What is the different between Insert New Component vs New product?

(OP)
In Assembly, we can Insert either New Component or Product. But What is the different between them? Any pros and cons?

Thanks.

RE: What is the different between Insert New Component vs New product?

a New Product is a new CATProduct containing instances of CATIA parts and assemblies. It can be saved with it's own name as an independant file. It can be opened by itself.

a New Component is similar, but it is not saved as an independant file. It is saved with the parent assembly. It cannot be opened by itself.
