bi-directional piston?

bi-directional piston?

bi-directional piston?

(OP)
Hi all,

I've got a need for a piston that can work both directions - push and pull.

Since it's actuating a frame that moves left-right, I was thinking to use a piston I'd seen before that has two actuators on either end. What is this style called? can you recommend a manufacturer?

Is this even the best way to go? or can I just use a regular push/pull piston?

thanks!

Who said wikipedia wasn't good for anything.

double rod end cylinder is what I'm looking for.

RE: bi-directional piston?

The double-ended cylinder will give you the same force and speed in both directions, if that is important to you.  A single-ended cylinder will give you different extend and retract forces and speeds.
