Assy Custom Properties in to excel

Assy Custom Properties in to excel

(OP)
Hello all,
I am reviving a thread from 2007 to see what new things may be availble now with 2010.

Request #1
I would like to be able to create a report of some kind that will show me all the part numbers of an assembly with the material associated to each part.

Request #2
With the same assy I would like to generate a report of some kind that will show me which parts and sub-assemblies do not have drawings associated with them.

If there is a way to do both in one shot, great.  However, it is not required.

Thanks in advance,
BB

If you have PDMWorks you can output similar reporting, but does not include materials.

For number 1 you can use a BOM.  It can be saved out to an Excel file.  Have been able to do that for a few releases now.  In SW2010 you do not even need to create a drawing.  You can do an assembly BOM.

Number 2 will require a pdm system of some sort I do beleive.

Once I have the Assy BOM how do I add a column for material?

Thanks

I found it, thanks much

BB,

For item 1, it is easy to make a custom BOM template listing whatever properties you want.  In addition to a drawing in 2010 you can now show a BOM in an assembly file.

For item 2, the closest thing in SWX is File -> Find References.  This will let you Copy List of the listed files, but this does not include the drawings.  The next screen, Copy Files, takes you to the Pack and Go where you can include the drawings, but there is no option to copy or print this list.

RE: Assy Custom Properties in to excel

Yes, for Item 2, I use Pack & Go.

I have taken screenshots of the Pack and Go screen and then Paste it into IrfanView and save as a png to my desktop or print the image out.

Works good on a number of levels as I can also check that everything is coming from where I expect for file locations as well.

Cheers,
