Open Web Wood Trusses

Open Web Wood Trusses

I have a multi-story project that will require open web wood trusses (parallel chords) for the floors and roof.

Can anyone recommend some manufacturers?  Longest span is about 26 feet.  I found one manufacturer that appears to handle that span, TrimJoist.  I'd like to have some other manufacturers available to the client as well.

Thanks

"Redbuilt", who recently bought the rights to the commercial truss line of Truss Joist.

Try contacting any local wood truss mfg.  They can usually help or know someone who can.

There are all types and configs available from all wood to all steel and combos in between.

Thanks for the input.  I-level used to have the wood top and bottom chord with steel tube webs, then redbuilt bought it.  I already tried that, and they are about 2.5 times more expensive than a regular wood chord and web truss, so the client shot that down right away!

RE: Open Web Wood Trusses

If you have the depth a 4X2 metal plate connected wood truss works.

I've got about 20 inches or so of depth to play with.  Should be able to make an 18" or 20" deep wood truss work at 24" oc.

RE: Open Web Wood Trusses

For wood floor trusses - old rule of thumb was about 1" for 1'' of depth..usually a little bit more with very good grades.  So yes - you should be in the ball park

Mike:

I assume you meant 1 foot (of span) for 1 inch of depth?  bigsmile
