Carbon Fibers and Steel Plate as an additional reinforcement

Carbon Fibers and Steel Plate as an additional reinforcement

(OP)
Good day,

I am on the retrofitting project, and I resorting in to two methods

1. to use a carbon fiber to reinforced the prestressed slab
2. to use a steel plate with epoxy resins

Its the first time that I encounter these method. Do you have any good references or sample design regarding these methods?

thank you in advance

RE: Carbon Fibers and Steel Plate as an additional reinforcement

The best resource texts I have used for carbon fibre strengthening include:

ACI440.2 "Guide for the Design and Construction of Externally Bonded FRP Systems for Strengthening Concrete Structures".

A textbook by Lawrence Bank "Composites for Construction Structural Design with FRP Materials".

Concrete Society Technical Report 55 "Design Guidance for Strengthening Concrete Structures Using Fibre Composite Materials".

Is there anything in particular you are looking into?

RE: Carbon Fibers and Steel Plate as an additional reinforcement

Agree with Kikflip - I've used all three in the past and found them very helpful.

i found some references on carbon fibers and so on,but mostly they are guide on designing beam having carbon fiber inside the concrete, not outside the beam

i am also looking for a sho-bond method, but i cant find useful resources regarding these method

Jenofstructures - All of the references above are for placing a FRP product on concrete beams externally and are not for fiber-reinforced concrete.  If you are strengthening a concrete beam, slab, or column, I suggest using those references.

I am not familiar with the sho-bond method.
