Suspend Slab Spec.

Suspend Slab Spec.

What spec governs the tolerance for finished floor tolerance for suspended slabs on metal deck?  I'm not sure if it would fall under ACI 117 or not.

I have a suspended slab that was suppose to slope but it doesn't.  The contractor is saying that the slab is within tolerance and I would like to know which tolerance this falls under.

Oh, this project is in the US and generally is following the IBC-03.

RE: Suspend Slab Spec.

If the slab is supposed to slope but doesn't, it doesn't satisfy the basic requirement of the design.  How much slope did you specify?

The slope was very slight, somewhere around 1/16"/foot.  The purpose was to drain water from a floor.  Not massive amounts of water either.  It appears that the contractor poured the floor level instead of following the slope of the structure.

From the research I have done since this post, it appears that the slab spec/tolerance does fall under ACI 117-90 (in this instance).

ACI 117 says that the maximum variation in thickness is -1/4" to +3/8".  In accordance with this, the slab is not within tolerance and therefore not withing spec.
