Plastic Material for 8-15um IR transmittance

Plastic Material for 8-15um IR transmittance

Plastic Material for 8-15um IR transmittance

(OP)
I am trying to do IR(body heat) sensing through a plastic window(1mm thickness).
The electronics portion working well but all the "IR" windows I put in front of it pass so little energy that the unit is useless(Clear polycarbonate and PMMA).
The plastic window must be rigid and flame retarded.
Any suggestions on what I should be looking for?
Thanks and regards,

RE: Plastic Material for 8-15um IR transmittance

We use a remote IR sensor that has a removable plastic dome. This detects IR from a handheld remote control at 850nM. The manufacture of the unit is Pedoka. They should be willing to send you a sample receiver from which you can salvage the plastic.

RE: Plastic Material for 8-15um IR transmittance

Bayer Chemical has special infrared-transparent polymers.
