CROSS EFFECTS!!!

CROSS EFFECTS!!!

CROSS EFFECTS!!!

(OP)
Hi guys

I'm supposed to get informations about diffusional cross effects and its consequences/effects in distillation.

Up to now I couldn't see a direct relation about these two topics.

Have one of you guys some idea about the thing.

Thank you very much for any help.

RE: CROSS EFFECTS!!!

No idea sorry but i would recommend you the following references:

"Distillation Design" and "Distillation Operation" both by Henry Z. Kister.

Hope it helps.

"We don't believe things because they are true, things are true because we believe them."

RE: CROSS EFFECTS!!!

Well...after thinking a bit, i remember that in distillation, for every mole that you transfer from one phase to the other you also have heat (enthalpy) transfer.
The mass transfer and heat transfer are closely related, and the Colburn & Chilton Analogy does it: k*Sc^0.333 = h*Pr^0.333 / Cp,
Where k is the mass transfer coefficient, Sc the Schmidt number, h the heat transfer coefficient, Pr is the Prandtl number and Cp the heat capacity.
Maybe this is what you call cross-effects...

"We don't believe things because they are true, things are true because we believe them."
