I want to learn how to design and detail the flat plate.

I need your suggestions as to the best source of reference material other than code. Thanks in advance.

Concrete Structures by Warner Rangan Hall and Faulkes is a good source.

Messing around with RAPT is an easy way to learn, and the manual is pretty helpful to...

Thanks pwht1, but I really think he should get an good understanding of how flat slabs work before going near software which can let him play with the effects after he understands the logic!

If you are looking at PT slabs, do not rely on the ACI/PTI logic as a background to learn how slabs work as it is very misleading.

pwht1's original suggestion is a good one, as would be most RC design text books.

Just a quick note as to flat plates, the shear reinforcement and detailing is atypical around the world and it is important to use local information when learning to detail.
