Deaerator in Sec.I ?

Deaerator in Sec.I ?

Deaerator in Sec.I ?

In the HRSG system will the Deaerator located in the LP section above the LP drum commonly fall under the requirements of Section I ? Or will the boundary end with the LP drum and the DA be considered as an attachment?

RE: Deaerator in Sec.I ?

The DA is a pressure vessel in accordance with Section VIII.

RE: Deaerator in Sec.I ?

it becomes cheaper to built to Sect VIII than I.

Thank you for the info.

RE: Deaerator in Sec.I ?

It really depends on the location and valving. If not isolated outside the ASME I boundary, it will be governed by ASME I. We have seen them designed, manufactured and stamped per ASME I and ASME VIII, Div. 1.

Better still, get rid of the DA;- with oxygen controlled injection you have better corrosion control over the whole system and a lot less headaches.
