Using UMAT?

Using UMAT?

Using UMAT?

(OP)
Hallo all

I want to use the Zerilli Armstrong constitutive material equation to describe the material behaviour.
I can't find it in ABAQUS. Maybe it is hidden somewhere in the program. I don't know.
If it is not embedded I have to use UMAT, is that right. Is it very complex programming?

Thank you very much

RE: Using UMAT?

If you have to write your own UMAT, Abaqus generally expect between 12-36 months of work to validate from scratch (approx, depending on how much of your time is spent developing this model). It is a huge undertaking from scratch. If you need to modify an existing UMAT then of course the validation time is less, but still a lot of work.

The model you mention however appears to be available in Abaqus, I believe. A Google search points to at least a 100+ articles that use this model.

Thank you very much.

I know that some people are using this material modell. But I want to know if it is implented in every ABAQUS and how to find it.
LS-Dyna has a very good user manual where several material models are listed and they are easy to use. Does something similar exist for ABAQUS. An index with all material models for ABAQUS or something like that.
