Hello,
I have a problem with SW2009 in Drawing view. When I try to dimension a feature, the little blue selection highlight circles are not appearing. I can dimension the feature, but it will not highlight edges or vertices. Also, when I click an edge, 3 zeros quickly flash and disappear. When I click another edge, the dimension works, but this is very annoying. Any help is appreciated.

No filters are active.

RE: Selection Highlight

Has this problem just appeared in the current session of SW?

Have you tried rebooting?

What graphics card are you using?

The problem has just appeared in the last 2 weeks or so.  I've rebooted many times, this is really starting to get annoying.  I'm using NVidia Quadro FX 1500.  I'm beginning to think I adjusted a setting at one time and don't know what it is.
Thanks for your help

RE: Selection Highlight

Has Windows performed an update within those "2 weeks or so"?

RE: Selection Highlight

Any chance your video card or computer has a component going bad?  Has it been hotter then normal outside and the office is a bit warm?  All the fans working in the system?  The system has been clean of dust gorillas, etc?

Does it happen later in the day when you have been working for a while?  System has heated up as the day goes?  A long, power session of detailing?

If is was working before and is not now sounds like you may be having a bit of component failure starting to show itself.

Cheers,

My power supply has been failing me as of late (random system reboots with blue screen).  This has also been happening in the last few weeks but it has since been replaced.  I have a tough time believing this minor glitch is related to a hardware issue.  Anyways, I still cannot highlight edges or vertices while drawing.

Let me explain this further...please read slowly, I tried to explain as best I could.

This is not limited to drawing mode.  This happens with Smart Dimension in sketch mode as well.  When I Smart Dimension a rectangle, the first selection (LINE) is not highlighted (prior to clicking).  When I click, that edge becomes highlighted and subsequent selections ARE highlighted (prior to clicking).  However, if I select a POINT as first selection, it becomes highlighted (after clicking) and subsequent selections are NOT highlighted (prior to clicking).  Note that I cannot highlight ANY dimension reference (point, line, etc.) on my first selection.

I understand this is a weird and hard-to-explain problem, any insight is appreciated.  Any body else experiencing weird highlighting problems?

RE: Selection Highlight

Just clutching at straws here;

Try uninstalling and re-installing latest approved video driver.

Try running a repair from the SW install disk or re-setting the registry.

TyVan07....

I speak from actual experience from wierd things happening in SolidWorks being related to failing hardware.

But beleive what you will.
