[SKETCH] Fixed Text Height On Screen

[SKETCH] Fixed Text Height On Screen

(OP)
In an earlier (closed) thread the following question is asked:

> When editing (or creating) a sketch in NX6 the dimension
> annotation changes size based on how far I am zoomed in,
> or out, of it. Is there a way to turn this off and keep
> the dimensions the same size no matter how much I am
> zoomed into it?

The answer is:

> Sketch Style > uncheck [Fixed Text Height On Screen]

However, NX6 doen't respond to that at all. Not even if it's unchecked in the costumer defaults, too.

Any ideas about that?

(I can't help but remark that I don't understand why this kind of hampering features are enabled by default anyway).

RE: [SKETCH] Fixed Text Height On Screen

Did you restart NX after you made the change?

I actually find this feature useful, it doesn't hamper me in any way.

Thanks for your response. I've restarted NX 4 times so far with all the possible combinations of the setting in sketch and customer defaults. I'm glad to hear that you find it useful. I myself, though, find it hard to comprehend what is useful about repositioning your dimensions ever 10 seconds to find out which value corresponds to which curve.

RE: [SKETCH] Fixed Text Height On Screen

Are you running NX 6.0 or NX 4.0?

But since you started out talking about NX 6.0, I'l answer your question based on that release.  When editing the text preferences of the existing Sketch, you have to use the...

Sketch -> Sketch Style...

...dialog and NOT the...

Preferences -> Sketch -> Sketch Style

...dialog, which is now used to set the behavior for any NEW sketches which you create in your model.  This was done to make the setting/editing of Sketch Annotation objects consistent with Drafting where changing a 'Preference' only effects the next items being created, but not the existing ones.
