Enth MJ/h question

Enth MJ/h question

Enth MJ/h question

(OP)
I've run upon specs for a gas mixture heat exchanger with condensing. I'm looking through it for an enthalpy or condensing heat load to find how much heat transfer there is in condensing. The only thing i see is a quantity label "Enth MJ/h" and a corresponding value of about -50000.

the "Enth" makes me think its enthalpy but the units are for heat transfer. and the quantity is significantly above the label total heat duty.

anyone have any suggestions on what "Enth MJ/h" is?

RE: Enth MJ/h question

Your heat exchanger will have a stream with a specific enthalpy expressed in MJ/kmol and a mass flow expressed in kmol/h. So the available power is MJ/h.

By the way when you deal with multi-component vapours, you shouldn't consider the condensing process as an isothermal one. Temperature varies from the inlet to the outlet of the condenser and so does enthalpy. Mixtures do not behave as single-phase streams do.

RE: Enth MJ/h question

It all depends on what is the intended meaning of the M in MJ/h.
