Assembly Constraint Defaults
Assembly Constraint Defaults
(OP)
NX7.0.0.9
I love the ability to drag and drop components into an assembly, but haven't found out how to change the constraint defaults from constrained to absolute. I usually need to drop the components into aircraft coordinates to verify their position relative to the rest of the assembly, and having to constrain them defeats the purpose of my task.
TIA

RE: Assembly Constraint Defaults
Customer Defaults -> Assemblies -> General -> Component Operations
...and first toggle OFF the 'Skip Add Component Dialog and use Defaults' option in the section of the dialog labeled 'Single Select Drag and Drop'. Next change the Positioning option to 'Select Origin'. This will give you what I think you're looking for.
Actually, with that first option toggled OFF, you'll now be able to choose whatever positioning method you would like when doing a 'Drag & Drop', while the second change above will pre-set that method to 'Select Origin', which you can always change on the fly if you wish to.
