Flow Simulation in SW (inlet-outlet)
Flow Simulation in SW (inlet-outlet)
(OP)
The object(a chamber with a filter inside) is ready for the flow simulation, you should close the inlet and outlet as SW prompts you by putting "lids" to get the simulation run, I did so but it keeps giving the error saying: "The selected face dose not contact fluid or it is an external face of the model"
I changed the lids few times but still doesn't proceed the flow running to the chamber,
Any idea??
Thanks alot

try choosing, e.g. the edge at the intersection of a port face and the port bore when constructing a lid.
( I don't have access to SW right now, but I remember having the exact same problem as you when I tried flow simulation. )

Well, I dont wanna change my inlet-outlet ports,
RE: Flow Simulation in SW (inlet-outlet)
FYI, I swapped the inlet and outlet ports, now inlet is accepted but not the outlet(or the real inlet),
I'll have to play around with the geometry I guess,

Another possibility: make sure you're selecting the face of the lid that is internal to the assembly. Your fluid doesn't flow through the lid, it starts at it and flows away from (or into) whichever face you selected.

Extract the inside faces and see if you can knit them into a solid. If you can't there is a geometry problem.
Slice the model in half by extruding a block across either half. If one half runs and the other doesn't the problem is in the other half.
Model quality is very important in FEA and FDA. Meshes don't like sliver faces, small gaps and edge that are disproportionately short.

RE: Flow Simulation in SW (inlet-outlet)
Thanks every one, ..as StiveMartin said I had a hard time defining the 'filter' in my object. I created a solid cylinder with pleats all around (which looks like a real filter) and then using the APPEARANCE feature I picked mesh (which looks like inserts holes all around the surface, my filter is supposed to be 40 microns but could not create that anyways).
If any one has any idea about creating a 'filter' element that would be great.
I select the inner surface of the lid inside the tube/port for my inlet, that cannot be the problem.
Thanks again,

I can't really help you define the medium for your filter, even if I had more information about it, as I'm not really familiar with this tool. Hopefully this much gives you a useful starting point.
RE: Flow Simulation in SW (inlet-outlet)
you wanna have a look on the model? I am uploading the file, the object is supposed to be a filter element with approx 40 micron holes,
Thanks
