Non-linear Analysis giving Erroneous Results

Non-linear Analysis giving Erroneous Results

(OP)
hi,

I am currently running a non linear analysis with an initial sway, of a three bay steel frame. i am trying to find the ultimate carrying capacity of the frame.

the results that i am getting from ansys are strange as it is shown in the attached file. the load factor only increases to 1.2, but it should be going up to 1.8, instead the load factor reaches 1.2 and tracks back on the same path.

can anyone shine any light on what is happening and how this can be fixed so i can reach the ultimate capacity. thanks
