Set Up Seed Files

Set Up Seed Files

Set Up Seed Files

(OP)
Hi NX's,

I want to set up a model & drawing seed file that will have the company's layer conventions pre-set or defined.

How can I set up a model seed file and assure that all NX will get (updated) model seed file?

Also, I would like to create a drawing template with company logo & pre-set or defined layers within the drafing side or environment.  I would also like to have a command or macro that will automatically generate new sheets if we are working on multi-sheet drawing.

Thanks for the assistance.

RE: Set Up Seed Files

What version are you running?

Hi,

I'm running NX 7.5 & NX 6.  Basically, the company wants to set a drawing template for all CAD versions - We also use Pro-E, KeyCreator & othe CAD applications. However, I'm primarily focused with NX versions.

Thanks

RE: Set Up Seed Files

The slickest way to do it is adding your own templates to your "Create New File" dialogue. This is controlled by the *.Pax files in the UGII folder. Its best to develop your own independant pax files and place them in a folder seperate from the original UG installation tree. This way they dont get overwritten by maintenance packs etc...

To do this...
 Make a new env variable
  UG_USER_DIR
(Make the value of this the path to the custom folder)

Copy the pax files you want to edit to this folder.
  Model, Assembly, Drawing etc...

Dont remane them, just edit the content... its pretty  strait forward.

Store all the templates you make in this same folder.

Tip: One of these pax fiels also controls what templates are available when making new sheets in drafting space.
