ACI 421.1Punching Shear-Centroid of Critical Section for Corner Column

ACI 421.1Punching Shear-Centroid of Critical Section for Corner Column

ACI 421.1Punching Shear-Centroid of Critical Section for Corner Column

(OP)
I have been working through corner column example problems D.3 and D.4 in ACI 421.1R-08 and ACI 421.2R-10, respectively. When determining the properties of the first and second critical sections for punching shear, one must determine the centroid of the shear critical section.  I have been using the conventional method to determine the location of the centroids, but the example problems have slightly different valus for x-bar & y-bar. X-bar and y-bar are then used to determine Xo, which is the distance between the column center and centroid, with respect to the centroid.

Can anyone shed some light on this?  It is greatly appreciated!

Best Regards.
