SIMULTANEOUS INJECTION OF CHLORINE & FERROUS SULPHATE IN THE CONDENSER

SIMULTANEOUS INJECTION OF CHLORINE & FERROUS SULPHATE IN THE CONDENSER

SIMULTANEOUS INJECTION OF CHLORINE & FERROUS SULPHATE IN THE CONDENSER

(OP)
I work at Steam Power Plant 2 x 100 MW. We inject Ferrous Sulphate to the COndenser in order to prevent Condenser from Corrosion. We also inject Chlorine (Sodium HypoChlorite) before the travelling screen to prevent Marine organism from growing up in the Condenser. My Question is Could we inject Chlorine simultaneously with Ferrous Sulphate? Thanks for your attention

RE: SIMULTANEOUS INJECTION OF CHLORINE & FERROUS SULPHATE IN THE CONDENSER

I assume that this is a brass tubed condenser.
You should only need to add ferrous sulfate periodically.

Do your water conditions change a lot (time of day, time of month, time of year)?
Once you have a good surface film it should be fine.  But if the water quality changes a lot then you may need to replenish it more often.

RE: SIMULTANEOUS INJECTION OF CHLORINE & FERROUS SULPHATE IN THE CONDENSER

I suspect that hypochlorite is sufficiently strong an oxidant to take ferrous sulphate (Fe+2) to ferric sulphate (Fe+3).  Even ordinary oxygen will do this readily if you wait long enough.  So you certainly should not combine them prior to injection!
