Fixed Link-Length Design Study
Fixed Link-Length Design Study
(OP)
Hi!
I am trying to perform a design study and DOE of a linkage in ADAMS, and my goal is to assess the effect of movement of the joint POSITIONS in 3D space on a particular measure of interest. The issue is, simply changing the points' (using parameterized points)coordinates in 3D space results in the change of length of the link.
How is it possible to fix the length of the links, and then perform the DOE by varying the pivot points? I tried the f(x) parameterize move tool to constrain the markers and points. Unfortunately, the effect of changing one point results in the movement of the entire mechanism!
I would appreciate it if a detailed methodology could be explained by someone, as I am not very conversant with ADAMS yet.

RE: Fixed Link-Length Design Study
The way I do it is to set up an Insight run, moving both ends of each link. This gives me a model in Excel that I can then filter to give only results with the correct arm lengths.
Explaining that lot point by point would take far more time than is practical.
Incidentally are you using View?

RE: Fixed Link-Length Design Study
The Insight runs you are talking about does sound very tedious and the proability of making a mistake, at least for me, is quite high. However, if you could point me to some resource explaining the overall procedure, I wouldnt mind delving into it.
On the other hand what I need to know is that, is there any way to write functions or expressions that would fix the length of the links in 3D space?
