Supplier of Small Valves for High Temperature Service

Supplier of Small Valves for High Temperature Service

(OP)
We are currently designing a pilot plant and will need small (1/2" -1") isolation and pressure relief valves for 750 degrees C design temp, 10 barg design pressure, natural gas and nitrogen medium. The plant will be run for less than 700 hours.

Have been looking at metal seat ball valves, but ranges I have found seem to start at 4".

Can anyone recommend any valve manufacturers I can talk to ?

Thanks for your help.

RE: Supplier of Small Valves for High Temperature Service

I would try southern California valve, they are located in Houston Texas.  Talk to a Josh Smith, tell him David sent you.

RE: Supplier of Small Valves for High Temperature Service

Suggest talking to a pilot plant company such as www.zeton.com as they deal with problems like this.

You might want to try EVS in Stafford, TX (outside Houston) - evsvalves.com

They make a neat little small severe service ball valve, down to 1/2".  It might be overkill for your application, with it being non-corrosives, but at 750C, maybe not.  Marvin is the brains behind the operation, the designer of the valve.  They have a blow-hard, loud talking sales monkey that hopefully you can avoid (Paul I think).

If you need anything larger, like a traditional cast-body ball valve, 1-1/2" or 2" and up, in metal-seated, high-temp, talk to Vintrol in Oklahoma City (405-261-0770, vintrol.com).  Ask for Mike, he's the engineer who will eventually have to be involved even if you deal with one of the sales monkeys first.  (They have a couple of pretty good guys though, James and Damon.)  Vintrol supplies the larger sizes to EVS, and vice versa.  (You can buy the small EVS valves through Vintrol.)

I would be looking at suppliers who provide equipment to the pharmaceutical industry. Their plants tend to be small size but require sophisticated equipment.

Swagelok and Hoke come to mind.

RE: Supplier of Small Valves for High Temperature Service

You are pretty high up the temp range, pushing the limits, which really restricts your available sources for valves.  Not sure of how you plan to operate these valves, how often, or how much through leakage and external leakage will be acceptable.  Depending upon these factors, you also may want to consider the use of gate and/or globe valves to expand your choices of supply and minimize your cost.

Try Gosco Valves, they have a ceramic option for that temperature range.(905) 825-2627

hi ,

you can go to Mogas , they are manufacturing severe service ball valves for high temp and high pressure.I know they have what you need.

For safety valve , Farris enginnering could be helpful.
