best practice: transitioning company from older to newer NX version?
best practice: transitioning company from older to newer NX version?
(OP)
Our company has been working in NX6 for a while now, and all of our CAD parts are in NX6 format. Now that 7.5 MR1 is out, we are planning to transition. Wondering if anyone has any comments on best practices to make such a transition go smoothly? Particularly if there will be mixed-use of NX6 and NX7.5 for a while?
How do you handle the fact that there may be a mixture of NX7.5 and NX6 files in the same directory?
Etc...
Thanks!

RE: best practice: transitioning company from older to newer NX version?
there is a refile tool - Some things to mention:
conversion of mating conditions - when used in Nx6
recreation of the lightweight data -
Look into the refile_part documentation.
IMHO when theres no TC or other database should be no problem.

If you have files that you must have in the older version, then write protect them so they don't accidently get copied over if pulled up in the newer version -
If you need to save them you can always change the protection, and then change it back to being protected.
As far as seperate directories go - I guess you can do that but it depends on how many files are involved, and the work involved with that.

Most file types contain the "Comments" Property
This is a lot easier then opining the .prt file in a text editor and searching for the Unigraphics or NX #.#.#.# text in the file.
