Dynamic Highlight
Dynamic Highlight
(OP)
I have a Dell 6400 (Laptop) that is docked and 2 monitors connected to the docking station. The Dynamic highlight does not work when both monitors are plugged in. When I use just the laptop it works fine. Has anyone else seen this, and if so did you get a solution to the problem?
I already been through the VAR route and that didn't work, hoping someone out here has found away around this, other than dropping one monitor or using the laptop monitor. I cannot see the laptop monitor, which is why I opted for 2 regular ones.
Now I have seen that it will highlight on an occasion, but for the most part it will not highlight. It did for a short time and then for no apparent reason it stopped working. I reinstalled SW once and it started working again, then after a few days it stopped again. I tried reinstalling SW (Clean again) and reinstall the VC driver and it never came back. I am at a lost to why it was working, then stopped and never came back. SW reply when I went through my VAR was
Note: 1 monitor is on a VGA cable and the other is on DVI. For some reason our IT was not able to get 2 DVI (which is on the docking station) cables to work with this type of setup.

which is a cop out of a reply. If it did work then stopped working, then there has to be a reason, not justQuote:
"they don't support this configruation"
I am very frustrated with the cop out reply, since I know there is a solution out there.Quote:

RE: Dynamic Highlight
The only problem I have with dual monitors is SW 2010 crashes more than on a single monitor.

RE: Dynamic Highlight
I have the same exact setup and my Dynamic highlight will only work with Use software OpenGL checked. I have found that if you go the nVidia control panel and switch to 1 monitor, then start Solidworks and then go back to the nVidia control and switch back to 2 monitors, the dynamic highlight will work with the Use software OpenGL button NOT checked. But, it will only work while that session of SW is open. As soon as you close SW you need to go thru the whole nVidia control panel setup again.
