NX Open 7.5 available bitmaps
NX Open 7.5 available bitmaps
(OP)
Hi,
I have been looking into the new NX Open tree control. The tree control nodes has the capability to have its own icon. I can see with the examples and documentation that you can use NX bitmaps but the thing is I cannot find the documentation about which bitmaps are available. Does anyone know where can I find the documentation of the available bitmaps? Thank you.
Regards,
Raymond

I suspected it is like that. I've spent some time trying to track the bitmap files by looking into the documentation and searching within the installation folder but was unsuccessful. I would really appreciate it if you can track them down or give me a copy. Thank you very much.

Currently I'm most interested in the PMI icons displayed on the Part Navigator tree. Also, I'm looking for icons that can represent a point, line, curve, circle, plane, cylinder, cone, and sphere. Although, a list of what's available will be best solution for future developments. Thank you.

RE: NX Open 7.5 available bitmaps
Speaking of Customize and the names of the icon 'images', all you have to do to get access to these names is to go into...
Tools -> Customize...
...select the particular toolbar icon of interest, press MB3, select the 'Change Button Image' option and then the 'Image Name...' item at the bottom of the pop-up sub-dialog. A text entry dialog will be displayed showing the 'name' of the selected icon's 'image'. Now that you've that name of the 'image' you should be good to go.
I'm still going to try and get you that reference file, but it might not be that friendly to use since it's listed by the names of the 'images', which are not always that easy to decipher. If you're looking for only a few icon names, the procedure I outlined above is about as easy as anything.

RE: NX Open 7.5 available bitmaps
Awesome! A good workaround for toolbar icons but very painful especially if you still don't know what to use and just browsing around. Also, not applicable for things like the PMI icons used in the Part Navigator tree. Thank you very much John! That helped me somehow.
I would still very much appreciate it if you can provide the reference file. If I can get a hold of it, I'm thinking of writing a small program within NX Open so that I can browse through the images more easily.

Raymond

The other file, if I can even find one as we may have changed our process (I haven't seen one since NX 4.0), was a single html file which when opened, would display the icons and their names in alphabetical order, but only if you also had the library of icon bitmaps in the same location, so while the html file was relatively 'small', you still needed to have 6 to 10 megabytes of .bmp's in order for the html file to be of any use to anyone.
As I said, I'm still looking, but the person I got the files from in the past is out of town and won't be back in the office until at least Monday.

RE: NX Open 7.5 available bitmaps
Wow that's a lot. Does not matter though, I guess I'll just have to find a way to sort through it.
No hurry, this product is still currently in the research phase and would not start until several months later. I'm just afraid that you will forget about this post.
I'll just try to remind you next week in-case you've forgotten because as you've said, this info is not generally available. I see an advantage with this information for our development. This for us means eliminating the time in developing our own bitmaps and it can maintain a consistent feel for the application we're developing.

The way I find the icons I want is to use the Explorer search to search for key words in the icon directory. A good viewer like xnview (which quickly displays thumbnails) is useful too.

Thank you for the update. I've tried the bitmaps that you gave and it's not really what I'm looking for. I'm interested in the Part Navigator tree PMI bitmaps like the Datum Feature Symbol, the different bitmaps for Feature Control Frames, and Dimensions. I attached a sample picture of some of these PMI bitmaps that I'm referring to.

...and download them from the 'scratch' area.
There are 5 sets of files and they are named:
NX_75_Bitmaps_Misc_Icons.zip
NX_75_Bitmaps_16x16.zip
NX_75_Bitmaps_24x24.zip
NX_75_Bitmaps_32x32.zip
NX_75_Bitmaps_48x48.zip
Note that these files will only remain in the 'scratch' area for a couple of days so if you need the libraries, don't wait too long.

Nice! :D Thank you soooo much for the files. I assume that the first part of the filename is also the bitmap name used in NX?
