Stainless Steel Pipe Size

Stainless Steel Pipe Size

(OP)
I'm reviewing a stainless steel schedule 80s, 14 in. diameter pipe, but ANSI/ASME 36.19M specs stainless steel pipe dimensions only thru 12-inch.

I have found dimensions for 80s pipe greater than 12 in, but I can't seem to find the controlling standard.  Is there an ANSI standard for schedule 80s pipe greater than 12 in? if so, are there special precautions or other requirements when the pipe gets to be that big?

thanks.

RE: Stainless Steel Pipe Size

Pipe sizes change from I.D. to O.D. when transitioning from 12" to 14".  There is an ANSI spec that covers this, but I can't remember the number.

RE: Stainless Steel Pipe Size

NS4U,

ASME 36.19M tabulates pipe dimensions up to NPS 30", but it only shows Sch. 80S up to NPS 20".

From NPS 8" through NPS 20", Sch 80S is equivalent to 1/2" thick. As already mentioned by Bagman2524, pipes NPS 14" and larger have outside diameters corresponding with the nominal pipe size, i.e. NPS 14" has an OD of 14".
