How to model uniformly distributed lane load in Space Gass

(OP)
Dear Aussie bridge engineers, I am new to Space Gass. I am trying to run a grillage analysis but cannot model the uniformly distributed lane load. Could any one explain to me, please? I appreciate any help.

RE: How to model uniformly distributed lane load in Space Gass

Are you referring to a member distributed load?

1) left click select members
2) right click > member distributed forces
3) enter LC number
4) enter loading
5) click ok then type name of new load case (if new)

Sorry if I have misunderstood the problem.

Thanks JBeng00, for your reply.

I am sorry that I did not state the problem clearly. I mean modelling the bridge lane load.
In the SG manual it says: "This module does not generate loads from static sources such as bridge lane loads. They must be input using the normal load input tools in SPACE GASS". I tried to use area load to model this load, but the bridge lane may be positioned at certain locations on the grillage and in most cases, the are no members on their boundaries to form areas.
I appreciate any help.

Hi Hansonn, I think I have a PDF tutorial from my uni days that could help you out, e-mail me at echelon22@hotmail.com if you're interested and I'll send it over
