Tieback Walers

Tieback Walers

Tieback Walers

(OP)
im currently working on route 405 project and we need to build  temporary shoring. i have asked a lot of companies but no one seems to have MC 18x 58 sections to be used as walers for tiebacks. can i use W 18x46 section which has almost the same section modulus if i dont find MC 18x58? or else what should be my other option to cop with this problem?

RE: Tieback Walers

You should be asking the designer of record for those walers.

Section substitutions happen all the time, but they have to be approved by the designer, specially if the section properties are smaller than those on the section specified.
