Boeing SMAL

(OP)
Looking for someone with experience dealing with Boeing on Spares Material Authorization License (SMAL). Specifically, their experiences obtaining all required dimensional data associated with the manufacture of a detail part. How do you handle a detail part on an assembly drawing with little dimensional detail? How do you handle loft dimensions, or how successful are you in obtaining MDD data? Any other experiences or information would be helpful.

RE: Boeing SMAL

I usually just use the 10" or 5" grids on the Boeing dwg's to scale off of. If the part has a loft or is very complicated, I tend to refer to a sample part off of the aircraft or in stock to get the dimensions from to model a part. Just make sure you get a scale from the 10" grid and make sure you measure each grid because they are all different due to the dwg's being printed.
