BEST THERMAL INSULATOR 700F

BEST THERMAL INSULATOR 700F

(OP)
Referencing thread391-99001: Best heat insulator @ 700 degrees F:

Has someone ever use MACOR from http://www.accuratus.com/macorfab.html ?

I have a heat stake application where I need to reduce as possible heat transfer by direct contact. Attached the cross section of my assembly. Orange solid is where a band heater will be installed. There are 2 heater element of 400W each. The next solid suppose to be the thermal insulator I need to define. Next solid is steel for fix the assembly the the aluminum plate. Brown section on the big plate are insulators to reduce even more possible heat transfer from lower solids. The big platen is held by a floating joint. All this insulating has the purpose of avoid heat transfer to the cylinder on the top (not visible) and possible damage. Last time I used Mc master 8478K69, but results are still far from other machine makers who use a kind of non-disclosed thermal resin.

RE: BEST THERMAL INSULATOR 700F

Glass-mica ceramics such as Micaver® produced by Saint Gobain are machinable materials which can work up to 700 °C and with a thermal conductivity lower than Macor.
