Water Wetter?

Water Wetter?

Water Wetter?

(OP)
Hi guys,

Can anybody recomend a paper or article that goes in depth about the effects of using water wetter? Perhaps even a study?

Thanks

Jared E

RE: Water Wetter?

if such a paper exists, perhaps the manufacturer can point you to it.

RE: Water Wetter?

Poke around on the SAE website.  If you can't find any related papers there that may tell you something in general about the topic . . .

More:

In engines/cars where EG or PG coolants are not allowed/recommended, Red Line Water Wetter has proven an excellent anti corrosive in the cooling systems of our race engines.  We use it as well in the engines of several early, non pressurized cooling systems (vintage/antique engines) with good results. As to temp reduction, it IS effective overall and is easily worth ~5% in my experience (no small deal when H2O is @240f)!

However---For those of us who just cannot stand "simply accepting the obvious"...a few drops of 'dishwasher liquid soap' will accomplish a reduction in operating temps...at least for the short term.

RE: Water Wetter?

Naturally of course one needs to ask if it is actually beneficial to pull more heat/energy out of the combustion process? The answer can vary a lot with the many different applications.

RE: Water Wetter?

One 1970s anecdotal effect was increased tendency of WW to find imperfectly sealed areas and leak

RE: Water Wetter?

You can do the same thing using Jet Dry or other off the shelf dishwasher treatments.... I've used that one for years in our race and street engines

RE: Water Wetter?

I've used household central heating conditioner in my engine (all alloy with steel wet liners).

It seems to be as good as the official stuff but cheaper and is easily available at my local DIY shop.
