Instances not updating
Instances not updating
(OP)
At where I work we are using NX version 6.0
We machine molds w/ multiple cavities
When finish milling the sidewalls of the cavities
we usually select the surfaces of one of the cavities
then translate the toolpath to the other cavities using
transform/rectangular array/instances
this procedure usually works well for us.
Where my questions comes in is if I go back into the original operation
to edit any parameters, this statement "pops" on the screen
"All instances of this operation will be edited"
and when I regenerate the operation it looks as if all the instanced operations also get regenerated.
But after a closer look I have discovered that instanced operations HAVE NOT changed ,
that in fact they still have the original toolpath.
To get around this problem I delete the instanced operations then re-translate the operations.
Can someone please tell me how come the instanced operations are not updating when UG tells me that
"All the instanced operations WILL be updated."
Thanks ,
Brian

RE: Instances not updating
Use Instance Geometry or Feature Array (maybe called Instance Feature)....however, not having a machining background, I cannot say that toolpaths are valid entities for this type of workflow....but there might be a command that is unique to the CAM module that will allow for toolpaths to be arrayed/instanced.
