NOX reduction modifications effect on Fuel consumption

NOX reduction modifications effect on Fuel consumption

Can anyone advise me on the Impact on fuel consumption that NOX reduction modifications are likely to have on 6MW engine burning 180cst hfo

RE: NOX reduction modifications effect on Fuel consumption

might have better luck posting this in "Engine and Fuel Engineering" on this site.

I beleive the answer will depend on what you modify to reduce NOx.

If you add a DPF and SCR (not likely w/HFO & sulfur), the backpressure will hurt your exh. temps and fuel economy

If you retard timing, you'll hurt fuel economy

if you're injecting water, I dunno.

thanks - the proposed method was alter engine timing
