Inexpensive alternative to photoelectric sensors?

Inexpensive alternative to photoelectric sensors?

Inexpensive alternative to photoelectric sensors?

(OP)
I am looking to eliminate potentially harmful pneumatic palm buttons. I plan on switching the pneumatic logic to electrical and to change the buttons to ergonomically superior alternatives. I have explored the option of Banner photoelectric sensors (placing both fingers on the sensors activates the mechanism) which are already quite popular at this plant but I was curious if there were cheaper electric alternatives that are easy on the operator. Thanks

RE: Inexpensive alternative to photoelectric sensors?

I think the best price/reliability choice would be
permanent magnet actuated reed switch. (if low voltage,
use mercury wetted ones.)
