Ray Tracing Software

(OP)
I would like to import 3D files of large plate type models with curvature into some sort of ray tracing software.  I would like to calculate focal lengths and things of that nature.  Does anyone have experience doing anything like this?  Thanks in advance.

RE: Ray Tracing Software

You will probably have better luck in this forum.

For optical modeling software I have used Zemax.  CodeV is also popular.

Since you posted in the finite element forum it might be helpful to check out SigFit which acts as a middleman between FEA and optics codes.

Optis is a simpler optics code that is embedded in CAD packages like SolidWorks.  It seems primarily suited for design of headlights instead of telescopes.

I hope this helps.
