What is the ASTM equivalent to DIN 975
What is the ASTM equivalent to DIN 975
(OP)
I am trying to figure out if DIN 975 class 10.9 studs (threaded rod) is equivalent to ASTM A193 B7. I am unable to find any yield and tensile strengths for Din 975 Class 10.9 sutds to be able to compare them to the values published for ASTM A193 B7. Anybody have any links or information to back up this claim?
Thanks!
Thanks!

RE: What is the ASTM equivalent to DIN 975
For ISO Metric screw threads equal or less than M39 from carbon or alloy steel at room temperature= 1000 N/mm2. Lower or proof yield strength = 900 N/mm2
The first figure (10) equals 1/100 of the nominal tensile strength in N/mm2. The second figure indicates 10x the ratio between lower yield strength and nominal tensile strength. So
at property class 10.9 the second figure 9=10x900/1000.HRC=32
ISO 898-1

Both, DIN 975 and DIN 976 handle only class 4.6. 5.6 and 5.8 as selected by the user unless otherwise specified..
Typical call out for threaded rod would be: Threaded rod DIN 975 - M10 - 5.6
Since you have class 10.9 specified go to DIN/ISO 898 - 1.

Juergen & the Fox both provided good information, but the simple answer is no, DIN 795 is not equivalent to ASTM A 193, nor is the replacement DIN 796. ASTM A 193 is a specification for fasteners for high temperature or high pressure service, DIN 795 is not. The equivalent European standard is DIN EN 10269. I don't have it in front of me, so I cannot provide the exact grade that is equivalent to B7. This sounds like a supplier offering an inferior product instead of complying with the specification requirements...
