RE: Nitrogen Piping
In medical gas installation you can use copper with fusion fittings.
RE: Nitrogen Piping
Do you work in a pharmaceutical company? By the way what is a food grade stainless steel?
I presume you reply me

RE: Nitrogen Piping
You got to the point,
As I am in Europe and we use mostly DIN norms and even partly old Russian GOST, I used our internal term (I am working in beverage bottling plant).
Looking at AISI, we have problems with 304. Our tuff sanitation system includes caustic, acid and hot water treatment and causes visible pitting on 304 after 1-2 months of usage. So 316 is considered minimum for sanitary installation. Of course, this is based on our current conditions and mandated sanitation program, but I can presume it happens similarly in this industry.

That system is SIP/CIP (steam in place/clean in place) and is a standard practice in pharmaceutical companies too. The electropolishing and subsequent passivation (with HN03) will form chromate layer on the internal surface and prevents corrosion and SS 316L is a better option.
