teeth sprocket design

(OP)
Hi all,
I want to design with Solidworks (CAD) a sprocket with teeth. Is anybody can suggest me a web site to find the specifications of this type of design.
Thank you

RE: teeth sprocket design

All the info needed is in Machinery's Handbook.

I've got some sprockets designed (SW06) for #25 & #41 chain of various tooth numbers.

It's not difficult to do, but takes a bit of time.

I have some tables made up in Excel to make calculating values easier, however these are not used as a Design Table in SW.

RE: teeth sprocket design

Do you mean "specifications of such a design" in the sense of:

"the geometry and mathematics of sprocket design"

Or in the sense of:

"the techniques used to model sprockets in SolidWorks" ?

Quick google search resulted in these, check them out:

Thank you all for your response.

RE: teeth sprocket design

I've started this part that will calculate the teeth based on what's in the Machinery's Handbook (Ref. ASME/ANSI B29.1M-1986).

You still have to put in the hub dimensions, and OD, etc.  You can find those dimensions at any manufacturer's site.  (Browning, Martin, etc.)  The tooth profile is covered though.

Thank you James, I found that very useful and interesting!
