I am constructing a quarter car suspension model using beam elements. It is a simple question but difficult to describe, I shall try my best :P

The pushrod from the hub is connected to a rocker (L shaped plate free to rotate on central axis) which pivots on the chassis. The other arm of the rocker is attached to a spring.

When the suspension compresses, the pushrod rotates the rocker and hence compresses the spring.

I have assembled the wishbones to the chassis using connector elements and they both move correctly. I have also connected the rocker to its pivot using the appropriate connector elements which will allow it to freely rotate. The rocker is constrained using a coincident point constraint at the central pivot point, and an edge to edge constraint with the x axis of two systems (one at the pivot point on the chassis and one on the pivot point of the rocker) so its sits squarely on its pin.

My problem is in correctly assembling the pushrod into the system. The way the parts are oriented currently means that the distance between the pushrods upper mounting and rocker mounting is slightly more than the pushrod itself. I naturally assumed that when I applied the coincident point constraints to each end of the pushrod the rocker would rotate slightly on its axis to allow the two points to join.

The rocker did not rotate however and I get an existing position constraint conflict.

I am aware that I need to select the component that will move first and the stationary component second, but the dammed rocker won't rotate to meet the pushrod.

I've attached a photo to try and explain better.
