How to set default to 2D
How to set default to 2D
(OP)
This issue has been driving me nuts for a while.
Upon startup, my AutoCAD 2007 displays in 3D. I'm structural, so we don't really use 3D. I've played around with as many settings as I can think of, but I haven't been able to figure it out.
How do I get AutoCAD to default to 2D (x-y plane), instead of the 3D view.
Sorry if this is a basic question for all you AutoCAD experts; as you can tell, I am NOT an expert myself.

RE: How to set default to 2D
Identify your template file by choosing Tools>Options>Files>Template Settings>Default Template File Name for QNEW and open that dwg.
In model space:
Type UCS World
(to set the UCS to World UCS)
Type Plan Current
(to set the model space view to be in Plan View and Y axis going up the screen)
then Save
When you open a new drawing (or on start-up) your default view will be in plan view...

I figured it was something relatively simple, but as I said, I'm not an expert..
