Pull face question

Pull face question

Pull face question

(OP)
Hi everyone, first time posting here.

So, i know that a pull face from a body automatically unites whit the original body, but i want to unite a pull face that I've created from a mesh, to another solid body. It's possible to do that? doesn't seem to work so far..

RE: Pull face question

Can you unite the 2 bodies before you perform the pull face? Which version of NX? A sketch or example part file will help us understand what it is you are trying to do.

RE: Pull face question

When you 'Pull' a face from a body it's not really doing a Boolean 'Unite', but rather it's just modifying the topology of the original body, something that was very difficult to do before Synchronous Modeling was introduced with NX 6.0.  Therefore there is no 'mechanism' which would recognize the interaction with a second body since, as I said, you're just modifying in real-time the topology of the original parent body and nothing else.  Now in many cases you might be able to perform an 'Extrude' using the same face and therefore you will then have the option of including a Boolean operation as part of your operation where you could interact with several bodies.

he's the image. first is the body, middle is the mesh that i've made the pull face from, and the last is the pull face whit the body.

dunno if there's another way to do what i'm trying to create, (that shell/tube thing) probably there is.. but i'm kinda new on NX, i'm using NX 6. still learning and testing the tools.

RE: Pull face question

You should be able to trim the tube with the surfaces you have made (may have to enlarge them a little bit first), then perform the pull face on the resulting face of the body. Other alternatives to try: extrude the sheets you have created (extrude face edges) and unite them to the tube or thicken the sheets you have into solid bodies and unite them.

Thanks both, did-it extruding the sheets. kinda more simple then i've first thought, that's how usually goes. heh
