Drain Tile/Sump Pump Capacity

Drain Tile/Sump Pump Capacity

Drain Tile/Sump Pump Capacity

(OP)
Does anyone know of a "simple" method that's more than a rule of thumb for determining the required capacity of a sump pump for a drain tile system serving the perimeter of a buildings foundation?

RE: Drain Tile/Sump Pump Capacity

If the water is coming from the roof, what is the roof's area?

What is the area of the landscaping that slopes toward the building?

What is the possibility of underground streams?

How much rain can fall in a 24 hour period?

What is the percolation of the soil?

One cubic foot of water is 7.5 gallons.

RE: Drain Tile/Sump Pump Capacity

If you are dealing with a subsurface drainage problem (i.e. a dewatering system) you are dealing with a complex system.   There is no "simple" answer.

Give us more details - we'll try to point you in the right direction.
