cooling tower structre /motor change
(OP)
we have a colling tower GEA settle with an aluminiun motor 140kgms frame ,size 200 rmp690 . we need to reeplace them but this day aluminiun motor on this size are not available , our option is cast iron which is slitly more than double on weigh . can somebody with knowledge make coomets pn what i need to take on consideration to avoid vibration or other problems due to the overweight ?

RE: cooling tower structre /motor change
Is this an electric motor? Regardless, what is the power and torque of the motor?
Why does aluminium versus cast iron matter? The 140kg aluminium motor is not one or even two man portable.
Do you have a mechanical engineer on staff? This sounds like his department.
RE: cooling tower structre /motor change
new unit will be 270kgr 690rpm 33 amp
i want to know what we need to see or considerate on the extructute to avoid problems of vibrations is the extructure need a reenforcement.

RE: cooling tower structre /motor change
As for structure, figure out the load paths and stresses.
Basically, it will be a linear problem. Double the load, double the stress.
