Non-Linear SPRING

Non-Linear SPRING

Non-Linear SPRING

(OP)
Hi all,
i'm trying to evaluate the mean life of a roller bearing.
In order to have a first evaluation of the outer ring deformation (that could let me simplify the analisys by simmetry, infact the bearing works like a wheel) i've created a simple model composed only by the inner/outer ring, connected by springs (many like the rollers).
And here's the problem: deformation, by hertz theory, of a roller under the effect of a radial force isn't linear

 i.e. : Q [N] = constant *(delta_def^0.985) [mm]

I've tryed to find something on abaqus guide, but nothin was usefull.
Is there a way to have a spring with non linear relation between force and deformation?

RE: Non-Linear SPRING

Hi,

You can use connector element (axial or translator) with nonlinear elastic behaviour.

Regards,
Barten
