Has anyone had experience with Char Lynn J Series Reversable Hydraulic Motors? When operated do they make significantly more noise when rotating in one direction versus the opposite direction?

Valuable advice from a professor many years ago: First, design for graceful failure. Everything we build will eventually fail, so we must strive to avoid injuries or secondary damage when that failure occurs. Only then can practicality and economics be properly considered.

I agree with ccfowler, the motor should be quiet in both directions.
I would check the pipework before rejecting the motor. It may be struggling to fill/empty in one direction. That will make it noisy. Load in each direction could also make a difference.
